So as for the big news I hinted at… unfortunately you will have to wait. We are trying to tie up some loose ends here at Grim Crew and once that’s done, we will have more information for you. Please be patient and we’ll get you the information as soon as it’s available to me.
Now to my post!
I was surfing the webs and I came across this awesome website. http://zombiehunters.org. This is the official website for the Zombie Squad, a unique group of people dedicated to the promotion of emergency preparedness for natural disasters, and zombie apocalypse. This is no joke people. The local chapters of this prestigious organization are dedicated to organizing educational and charitable events that help their communities. With everything from zombie film festivals, food drives, online donation drives and disaster awareness fares, these men and women are serious about helping others in times of need, and doing it all while having fun.
I can actually think of no better way to promote such a worthy message. Thousands, if not millions of us zombie fans out there take a good bit of our free time and plan and scheme for the upcoming zombie invasion. We have layouts and maps, emergency supplies, weapons and gear all waiting for that eventful day that the undead come calling for our brains. Yea, we do it all in the name of good fun, but in the back of our minds we all know that one day, these plans and supplies may come needed, whether for an actual zombie attack, or something more realistic like a flood, earthquake, or other natural disaster. What if we took this time we used for ourselves, and gave a little bit of it every month to the benefit of others? The Zombie Squad gives us that opportunity and a support group to keep motivated in that spirit of humanity.
I’m submitting my application today. Looks like the yearly cost is $15, which gives you special access to ZS Member only events, the members only forum, a official badge, and access to members only gear. It’s a small price to pay for such a worthy cause. I also like that the group is not politically affiliated and dedicated to all kinds of charitable organizations. You should check out the website and the FAQ section of their website. I especially like the last question of the FAQ.
Looks like they also host Zombie Con every year. It’s a week long event where they discuss emergency preparedness, survival strategy, a help organize themselves for the future. To me it looks like a good excuse to camp out for a week, goof off, and have a little fun. Check out last year’s event here.
Do your part people! Be an example to your community. And even if you don’t decide to join, help out ZS by spreading the message of emergency preparedness. Only YOU can prevent a zombie apocalypse.
Oh, and before I forget… keep up the submissions for the Running in the Lap of Luxury campain. Only a 1 more week to get those entries in!
