Alright, so I walk up to my local comic book guy and say to him… “Hey, you know I write this blog on zombies on this comic site, can you get me a book that I probably haven’t read before that I can talk about on the blog?” Now I trust my comic guy. He’s never disappointed me before so he leads me to this little ditty below. I ask him what it’s about, but somehow every time he tries to explain it to me I went mysteriously deaf and didn’t understand a word he said. I never even looked at the title. I just purchased it, and took it home. I didn’t realize until after I got it in the house that it probably wasn’t the smartest purchase to bring into the house of my religious parents.
All fun and games till someone looses a brain.
Some of you may have read it because it’s been around for a while. Writen by Rick Remender (Fear Agent, Punisher War Journal, Strange Girl, Dead Space by Electronic Arts), this zombie series is hard to sum up. Try taking a sleazy 70’s porn director, a dirty mob loan shark, a hot trusting young female, her no nonsense truck driving father, and a whole cast of porn stars, add zombies, shake, then pore over ice. This book does a good job at taking a normal zombie story and weaving in plot lines of deceit, betrayal, and greed.
Starting point of the zombie outbreak is on a flight back to LA from Haiti. Pre-earthquake so people still vacationed there. Due to a passenger dying on the flight and then making an attempt at producing a tasty in flight meal, which we all know is impossible, the plane crashes and LA gets overrun by zombies. It takes two days for the porn crew to even get a glimpse at what is going on because they have a deadline, and if Wong can’t get the money back to the mobster in time, it’s lights out permanently. In the mean time Jenny’s father goes on a killing spree looking for his daughter. No matter if it’s zombie or human, nothing is going to stop him from killing the sickos that perverted his girl. But when the zombies show up at the set of the film all hell breaks loose and Wong soon realizes the shit’s hit the fan. Now three factions are out to kill him and he’s bent and determined to get out of town alive, and making as much cash as possible doing it.
If you decide to pick up this book keep in mind that it contains nudity, graphic violence, depictions of sexual acts, and foul and/or otherwise offensive language. Please don’t leave it laying around or your son may be asking why the zombies took off all the girl’s cloths. I give XXXombies 4 out of 5 stars and would recommend it to mature zombie fans looking for a story that keeps you guessing till the very end. Or just want to see some cartoon boobies. Just saying.
