I had another blog planned for today. I had to postpone it due to recent current events that could potentially be dangerous to all Americans. A situation is occurring as I am writing this blog that brought on this Red Alert. I have promised if anything serious ever goes down, that I would post an emergency blog for the safety of all my readers.
For months I have been preaching the word of zombie preparedness. I have been telling people to get a plan in place, get a bug out bag, and get prepared. One aspect of this is to watch the news. Look for signs of potential zombie attacks. This is why on Wednesdays I post a Zombie Current Events Blog. Sure part of it is for fun zombie stuff like zombie walks, conventions and parties. But mostly I’m looking for news articles that could potentially point to any sign of a zombie invasion.
Currently right now a plane that flew in to Chicago Midway Airport is under quarantine due to a possibility that a passenger with a rash was exposed to a dangerous disease from a recent trip to Africa. Upon arrival to the airport the captain of the plane announced to passengers that he could not open the doors as medical personnel were arriving to conduct an investigation. The Chicago Fire Department as well as the CDC is involved. According to reports the CDC were very effective at ensuring that the quarantine procedures were followed to prevent possible contamination of other travelers.
At this point if I were to live in Chicago I would have ensured that the beginning stages of my Zombie Survival Plans were enacted. I would have gathered my Bug Out Bags and headed straight to my first safe house. Signals would have been sent to my survival group to advise them of the danger and hopefully without alerting the masses, would have each discreetly escaped the city to the safe house location.
The advantage to being hyper sensitive to the news and without hesitation enacting the survival plan would be that most of the rest of the population would be oblivious to the danger, allowing safe and easy escape by vehicle. If the potential threat gets out to the general populous, you and your group would already be safely away from the situation, in the process of making the necessary preparations for defense.
This is a practical reason why we should remain constantly vigilant of current events. If you can keep up on news as it happens, you can react before everyone else to ensure you and your family’s safety.
My prayers go out to the people on that Chicago flight, the CDC workers and the Chicago Fire Department, the passengers of the Chicago Midway Airport, and the people of Chicago City that this potential threat is unfounded and that everyone is safe.
To everyone else, please continue to monitor the situation to ensure your personal safety and start enacting your survival plans if there is any chance of threat in your area or the surrounding areas.

Story Follow Up:
After writing the above article, I found a story in the Detroit Free Press with an update to the situation. The disease that was a concern on the flight was Monkey Pox. Monkey Pox is not the zombie virus and although it is concerning and serious, it is highly treatable and has a low mortality rate. About after two hours of quarantine, the passengers of the plane were allowed to de-board. After investigation, the female passenger in question did not have symptoms consistent with the Monkey Pox Virus which I’m sure was a relief to all aboard the plane.
I apologize if the alert I raised caused overdue concern but hopefully we can all see the need to be alert and prepared. Please continue to be cautious about your day to day living. Keep monitoring the local, state, national, and world news for stories that may raise an alarm. I would rather be over cautious and prepared and ultimately safe, than to dismiss a potential threat and put people in harm’s way.
