Personally I believe that with the proper training, anyone can work on the talents that they wish to work on. For example, I’m not a very good artist, however I practiced drawing the same image over and over again and finally I was able to draw that image without reference to the source material and with surprisingly good results. If I worked hard enough, I could translate the skills and techniques I learned from that one drawing and apply it to others. However, some people come by the drawing ability naturally, and they don’t have to work as hard to keep up their skills. They still practice, but it seems that they have a natural knack for applying those skills.

Exercises like meditation may be the key to unlocking your hidden talents {1}

I feel medumship is the same. Most people may have one form of medium like abilities, or other abilities related to ESP. We are brought up in a society that tells us not to seek out our talents because they are not real, therefore these skills aren’t developed. This is a complete shame. I feel the lack of true paranormal ability in society is due more to the mentality of society and less with the lack of talent.

There are a few abilities that are highly encouraged by religious practices all over the world. For example clairvoyance and clairaudience are encouraged and desired by many religions that practice prayer to a deity. The ability to receive messages from their god is their main goal. Sadly not everyone has the natural talent for these abilities, and so the training of prayer is only so useful. Even more unfortunate are the people who the training actually works for them and do start to receive messages. Upon trying to explain their experiences they are immediately criticized, ostracized, and persecuted against. It’s as if it’s ok to believe it if the message comes from a Prophet or a Pope, but it’s discouraged for people without the status title to be able to have such experiences.

My advice for those that want to grow their paranormal talents? Find someone that will help you, practice every day, and keep an open mind. Finding a support group or mentor is no different than a child taking piano lessons, and there is no reason it should be seen differently. With daily practice you will find results. You will not see them right away, just like a novice guitar player will not be able to perform a Jimmy Hendrix piece. Eventually however, your hard work will give way to some sort of realization. Finally if you keep trying and you just can’t get it right, don’t get discouraged. Maybe you just don’t have the natural talent for that ability. Maybe try switching your study to something that fits your nature a bit better. For example when I was younger, I tried desperately through prayer to achieve results from clairaudience.  It wasn’t until I got frustrated and angry that I started feeling messages rather than hearing them. I then switched my focus to telempathy and started finding much greater success.

Practice or study with others or even just a mentor could be the most beneficial practice you ever do. You can’t do it all yourself. Doctors don’t learn healing on their own, you shouldn’t learn about your gifts alone either. {2}

When fighting zombies one would not think to remove their clothing to get out of a sticky situation, however if you know how to use it, a shirt could be a good last line of defense. Check out this Youtube video to see some self defense moves you can use to incapacitate an attacker.

Now you might say “the zombies won’t be punching me.” No, but traditionally they have their arms stretched out giving you the same opportunity. However this is going to be slightly ineffective if you haven’t practiced this over and over again.

Better idea, take your shirt and put some rocks on one end. Next tie the shirt up so that the rocks won’t fall out. Now you can whip your shirt like a flail as an improvised weapon.

Don’t have the time to waste? Here’s another idea. Hold your shirt open in front of you between both hands. Next run at the zombie with the shirt at face level and wrap the shirt around its head. Duck under it’s arms and swing around to it’s back. You now have an effective fulcrum point to pull the zombie down, smash it’s head on a rock, boot stomp it, etc. It’s not the safest and requires nerves of steel but it’s safer than fighting it hand to hand.

A poltergeist, according to paranormal studies, is a malicious spirit that can interact with the physical world by moving objects, making sounds, and even talking. It is strongly connected to the four elements. On occasion the entity will directly interact with its victims, causing scratches and bite marks to appear. Interactions with a poltergeist can range in severity. Some instances will find the entity to be harmless, just trying to get attention. Others will find the entity to be extremely belligerent with physical attacks on its victims. These cases are few and far between however, highly publicized.

Of course science has its own two cents, claiming that poltergeist activity can be blamed on a variety of phenomena including seismic activity, ball lightning, and all the way to underground waterways. I honestly find these explanations to be weak attempts at blaming ANYTHING but the paranormal.

Other theories that seem more plausible are strong air currents that may pick up and push around objects, or even physiological conditions of the supposed victims such as hysteria resulting from emotional tension. The most common non-paranormal explanation however is plain old tomfoolery by the “victims.” Unfortunately this is usually the case of a lot of poltergeist activity which casts serious doubt to true cases of haunting.

If you are experiencing a true case of a poltergeist haunting you, what can you do? If the case is small and not malicious, you could ignore it. There is a story passed around in my family that a cousin of mine had a poltergeist that would rearrange the furniture in the living room ever night, causing her to have to set it strait every morning. This kind of activity could potentially be ignored hoping that the sprit will go away without attention. Another option is exorcism. Various cultures and religions have their own rights for exorcisms and some can be done on your own. However I recommend that if the haunting is strong, or malicious that you get a professional that has experience in dealing with such phenomena to help. They may be more successful and being a third outside party would be less likely to receive retaliatory effects of their actions.

This site describes the video as being recorded by the Shapiro Residence in response to a Dr. Von Koeslter asking them to record any paranormal activity in their home.

The second video was of a separate, undisclosed residence and featured on the TV Show “Fact or Faked” This supposedly proven to be faked by the tv show.

Both the videos were embedded from their YouTube locations and were posted by user Vonkoestler. Use of these videos in the blog do not imply endorsement as true paranormal events.

“I will go on visions and revelations from the Lord… And I know that this man—whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know…was caught up to paradise. He heard inexpressible things, things that man is not permitted to tell.”

Some scientists claim that these experiences are caused by the mind. Many theories suggest that it is the minds response to stressful situations, such as near death experiences or intense pain, as a defense mechanism. Other theories claim that OBEs are nothing more than hallucinations.

Experiments have been done with direct electrical stimulation of the brain to create an OBE in the subjects. {1}

Paranormal explanations claim that OBE’s are related to the spirit, or specifically the spirit’s separation from the body. Of course this can be adjusted to fit your own personal feelings of spirit, but weather you call it the etheric body, the light body, the subtle body, the mind body, the consciousness, the idea is the same. The spirit temporarily separates from the body enabling your perception to sit outside of the body.

OBE’s can range in experiences, from just sitting outside of your body (being able to see your body from an outside perspective), to traveling great distances and being able to be at different places. Some accounts, like the one from Apostle Paul quoted above; depict the spirit traveling to other realms, be that heaven, the astral plain, or others.

If you are looking to have your own OBE, the good news is that you DON’T have to experience a near death experience to do this. In fact that is NOT recommended. There are many theories on how to induce an OBE which we will explore in future posts. I hope to test a method myself and post my results so look for that coming in the near future. However there are several warnings to people actively looking for experiences like this about being careful not to attract the attention of negative spirits malevolent creatures of the aether. Remember that the spiritual world is like a door that’s closed off by a pile of rocks, after opening it, it’s really difficult to close it again and even then you will never get it sealed completely.

In addition seeing your own body can be a very shocking and scary experience for some people. Don’t try to initiate an OBE unless you are fully prepared for all consequences. {2}

And admit it, you would do the same.

So how do you protect yourself from the not so zombie attackers? You have three options. You can go on the run, never staying around long enough to let someone else get the best of you. You could become the fat cat, you know the biggest bully who is so powerful no one would dream of messing with him (good luck with that). Or you can hide. You’re already hiding from zombies, why not hide from everyone else too?

It’s instinctual for us as a human race to hide in the bushes and only come out or attack when we are at the advantage. Naturally this is because we don’t have a lot of natural armor, like a rhino, or natural weapons, like a bear or lion. So as a race we have always hidden in caves or in the bushes until our prey had made a mistake and left itself vulnerable to our pitiful weapons. We can apply the same principles here too.

Take a look at some of these awesome camouflaged dwellings. From 100 yards out, you wouldn’t know the dwelling was around at all.

Hidden partial underground and well camouflaged, you would have to be right in front of the entrance to see it. {1}

I kind of like this idea. Make the house a decoy and use an under ground bunker as your dwelling. You could make the visible part of your home undesirable for squatters or scavengers by making it look derelict and unsafe.{2}

Even better hidden than the previous stone home. You would literally have to be facing the window and standing right in front of it to spot it! {3}

Passers by on the other side of the hill would know nothing about your chic abode entrance. {4}

This is another one not noticeable from the other side, but this lets in more natural light. {5}

Some methods of deterrence would be to make it insanely difficult to get to you. Although this also makes it difficult to leave for supplies as well.

Hidden in plain site. Camouflage from the clouds and inaccessible. Win Win! {6}

Hidden on one side by trees, the other, well they had better have a good bullet proof boat! {7}

If you decide to do this, make sure you keep your trail marked map, and watch for zombies that get trapped in the maze. Although the smart thing would be to have a hidden underground passage allowing you quick entrance and exit. {8}

Despite the cultural taboo of overt sexuality, the succubus is a fascinating demon that was first introduced during medieval times. The original version of the succubus was not the voluptuous and tempting vision we see depicted today, but an ugly and scary demon. Encounters with such a being truly terrified the people of the time. Because of their truly evil nature the succubus were commonly believed to be a fallen angel who’s sexual appetite corrupted them, or even a descendant of Lilith, who is said to be Adam’s first wife.

When Kolchak had to deal with a succubus, he was not so lucky to be dealing with the one commonly portrayed today. {1}

Succubuses were believed difficult to deal with. Much like their male counterparts the incubus, they did not respond to traditional Catholic tools to deal with demons. They did not seem to fear the church and they laughed in the face of an exorcism.

Another reason they were so difficult to deal with was the fact that their victims were often times defenseless. Sneaking to them in the middle of the night they had the ability to keep others in a deep sleep. They would then attack their victim usually while they were asleep. Victims would complain of being paralyzed and not being able to fight back. Other symptoms of a succubus attack would be that victims often felt drained and tired after waking up in the morning. Repeated attacks could eventually kill a victim.

Wait, your not my sexy nurse! {2}

Even though thought to be scary demons, the succubus was able to use many tricks in finding victims. They often would pose as a trusted female to their victims, like a wife, or friend. It would not be until they had effectively trapped their prey that they would show their true form.

So the next time you watch Lost Girl, or read Rosario + Vampire, be glad that the modern day Succubus seem to be a bit more benevolent, and a lot more attractive. I’m not talking the Wonder Twins from the 1970’s. There are reports that some twins have the gift telepathy, and remote feeling (also called telempathy). It should be mentioned that the powers reported are limited to the siblings in question exclusively and do not usually extend to people outside the twin relationship (meaning I could read my twin’s mind, but I couldn’t read yours). Although reports of these gifts have come up again and again though generations of twins, there has been no hard evidence to substantiate these claims.

That’s not quite how it works… but close enough. {1}

I myself being a twin have never experienced the stories that some twins have of being able to sense when something was wrong with the other twin, or being able to tell how their twin was feeling or what they were thinking. My mom has stories of when we were kids how when getting shots they would separate us and the twin in the waiting room would cry when the other was getting their shot, but was that telempathy or just crying because we noticed our brother was missing?

Scientific methods have not proven any common connection between sets of twin besides genetics. Of course science does not accept the concepts of telepathy or other signs of ESP powers on the whole. This does not mean that they don’t exist; just simply that science has not found quantitative evidence to prove their existence. Scientists also thought at one time our world was flat and that the sun revolved around us.

Wonder Twin Powers Activate… Form of goofballs!… Hmm…. Nothing happened? {2}

No one can deny the special connection many twins experience, and the closeness they have to many can seem like a super power. Thank you Johnathan Ziegler for sharing your stage makeup techniques with us. By far that’s one of the best bite marks I’ve seen. I love how it’s blended in so naturally. A lot of tutorials require extensive work for looks that stand away from your skin, where as this one looks more realistically a part of your skin. My question however is how well will it hold up? My last convention that I dressed up at , my bite marks, woulnds, blisters and warts started to rub off throughout the day. Anyone know of a  good makup to use that will not rub away so easily? But fear no more. I have the cure!

My first real introduction to the vampire was trying to sneak in episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer behind my mom’s back when I was younger. Then my best friend introduced me to the role playing game Vampire: The Masquerade. This opened my horizons and my imagination in a way I never thought possible. My fascination with vampires precedes my obsession with zombies so believe me when I say vampire fans, I feel your pain.

But here’s my idea. The next time someone starts spouting off about Edward Cullen or how they wished they were Bella, start shoving a real vampire movie down their throat and see how they like it. And there are so many to choose from! 30 Days of Night, Interview with the Vampire, Nosferatu, Nearly Dark, or The Lost Boys, are just a few.

You can also encourage your infected friends to read some of the great literature surrounding the vampire genera. Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, and The Queen of the Damned, by Ann Rice: The Hunger by Whitley Streiber: and how about I Am Legend, by Richard Matheson.

True Ladies and Gentleman of the dark, I beseech you. Drive out this madness caused by bad movies and books as of late. Let’s take back our monsters and show them the beauty and power of a true vampire. One by one we can convert them, and one by one we will have fans as true as ourselves. We can turn this travesty into a good thing. Let them get their first taste with Twilight to draw them closer, but then introduce them to the true romance of the vampire slowly. Maybe Buffy the Vampire Slayer next, then the Interview with the Vampire series. The just think of the possibility of a true renaissance of the Vampire and the new stories that could be told just by bringing the converts to the fold.

Have them watch this one, then ask if they still want to be a Cullen. {2}

For those of us who are less literate of the concepts, the Astral Plane refers to a plane of existence that consists of planetary spheres in which the soul crosses before life, and after death. Say what again?

The idea works like this. Between this life and the afterlife, there is a plane of existence that is separated into spheres that are made up of a material called aether. Before our souls can be born into this earth, and after our deaths, our souls must travel through this/these plane(s) of existence. Each sphere may contain its own beings (for example angels, gods, spirits, etc.). The purpose of the Astral Plane may differ from one religion/train of thought to the next.

Some believe they are just passage ways, like canals we must travel. Others believe they are higher planes of existence and we can progress from one level to the next. Some simply see it as a place where the creatures that are not of this world are from. Some claim they can visit the astral plane through astral projection, meditation, or other means.

Regardless, the concept is so large that many people who specifically deny the astral plane’s existence are still influenced by it. The idea of Heaven and Hell are derived from the concept of the astral plane. Each location may even be its own planetary sphere in the astral plane! Almost all forms of life before life or after death are derived from the astral plane concept.
